N.C.I.S. stands for Naturally curious INQUISITIVE scientist
This is a 6th grade elective geared to instilling a curiosity about our world. It is learning to think "outside of the box". NCIS is a class where a student can just have fun and explore science!
It is my hope that the students taking this class will explore and have more of an understanding of how this world works. In this class we will be doing a wide variety of activities. Some of the major concepts we will be covering are:
- The Scientific Method
- Volume, Mass, and Density
- The Periodic Table and the properties of atoms
- Force and Motion
- The Cell
- The metric system
- Documentary days
- "Frustration" days where I give them problems or puzzles to solve
- "Chopped" days where the students will be given a variety of objects and have to invent or make something using all the objects.
- Engineering Problems
- As well as much more...
In NCIS we rarely have any 2 days the same, we are busy having fun and exploring! Please feel free to take a look at the sub-page to this one and see some pictures of some of the activities we do in NCIS.
